What is the wage limit for ESI deduction?
The ESI scheme is specifically applicable to employees whose monthly gross wages are up to ₹21,000 (and up to ₹25,000 for persons with disabilities). Employees earning above this are exempt from deductions.
What is the ESIC contribution rate?
The current ESI contribution rate is 4.0% of the gross wages. The employer contributes 3.25%, and the employee contributes 0.75%. Employees earning less than ₹137 a day are exempted from their share.
